Nicolás Moreno Andrade Director and Founder of Altitud Adventures
A climber since 1996 when he started at the age of 16 to rock climb in the Rocks of Suesca. Started working in climbing in 2000 when he got involved with teaching climbing to kids in summer camps, first in Colombia and Costa Rica and lastly in Maine, USA. After a few years mixing his climbing related work with his work as a teacher at the Andes University and also some jobs related to circus and juggling, he's been working exclusively as a mountain guide since the beginning of 2007.
CLIMBING ACHIEVEMENTS
Colombia: Nevado del Tolima (5200 mts), Nevado Santa Isabel (4900 mts), Sierra nevada del Cocuy: Toti (4900 mts), Pan de Azúcar (5200 mts), Cóncavo (5200 mts), San Pablin Sur (5100 mts), Ritacuba Blanco (5300 mts), first ascent of a big wall route on the east wall of Pan de azúcar (V 5.10+ A2+). Ecuador: Cotopaxi (5980 mts). Perú: Chopicalqui (6350 mts), West wall of Huamashraju (5400 mts), attempts on Cashan (5700 mts), Ishinca (5500 mts). USA: El Capitan and Cathedral Peak (Yosemite Natl Park), Winter ascent of Quandary Peak, winter ascent attempts at Yale Peak, and Elbert peak (Colorado).
LABORAL EXPERIENCE
Independent mountain and rock climbing guide & instructor (2007-today) in the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy and Suesca. Founder and Director of Altitud Adventures (2008). Instructor in the course "Advanced rescue techniques in high altitude" taught to the SAR team of the National Police (2008). Instructor in the local mountain guides course in Sierra nevada del Cocuy, Coopserguias (2007). Director of the Rock climbing program at Robin Hood Camp, ME, USA (2007). Rock Climbing instructor in summer camps: Kajuyali Camp, Bogota (2000) Kajuyali Camp, Costa Rica (2001), Tucana ski Camp (2002), Robin Hood Camp, ME (2003, 2004).
